Product Overview

What is Canyon Insights?
Canyon Insights is a payment analytics dashboard purpose-built for merchants processing on Authorize.net and NMI. It gives you a clear, consolidated view of your transaction data β€” including volume trends, payment method breakdowns, customer metrics, decline analysis, and more β€” without requiring your team to dig through raw gateway exports or build custom reports.

It's designed for merchants who want actionable visibility into their payment operations without the overhead of a full BI stack.
Who is Canyon Insights built for?
Canyon Insights is built for:
  • Merchants running on Authorize.net or NMI who want better visibility into their payment data
  • Finance and operations teams that need reconciliation-ready reporting without manual exports
  • E-commerce and subscription businesses that need to monitor churn, failed payments, and customer trends
  • ISOs and payment agents offering Canyon Insights to their merchant portfolios as a value-add retention tool
Does Canyon Insights replace my payment gateway?
No. Canyon Insights is a read-only analytics layer that sits on top of your existing gateway. It does not process transactions, modify any gateway settings, or interfere with your payment flow in any way. You keep processing exactly as you do today β€” Canyon Insights just makes sense of the data coming out.
What kinds of insights does the dashboard provide?
Canyon Insights surfaces key metrics across several dimensions:
  • Transaction analytics β€” volume, approval rates, decline rates, and trends over time
  • Payment method breakdown β€” card type distribution (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), ACH vs. card split
  • Customer metrics β€” new vs. returning customers, customer lifetime value signals
  • Decline analysis β€” response code categorization to identify patterns driving failed transactions
  • Recurring billing health β€” subscription success rates and retry performance

Gateway Connections

Which payment gateways does Canyon Insights support?
Canyon Insights currently supports Authorize.net and NMI. These two gateways collectively serve a large share of U.S.-based merchants, and the product is optimized specifically for their data structures and API capabilities. Additional gateway integrations are on the roadmap.
How do I connect my gateway account?
Connecting is straightforward and takes just a few minutes. The process differs slightly by gateway:

Authorize.net: You'll provide your API Login ID and Transaction Key, which can be found in your Authorize.net Merchant Interface under Account β†’ Settings β†’ API Credentials. No additional permissions or API access changes are required.

NMI: You'll provide your NMI API key, which can be generated from within your NMI control panel. We recommend creating a dedicated read-only API key for Canyon Insights.

Both connections are read-only β€” Canyon Insights can retrieve transaction data but cannot initiate, modify, or void any transactions.
Can I connect multiple gateway accounts?
Yes. Merchants with multiple MIDs or gateway accounts β€” for example, separate accounts for different business units or brands β€” can connect them all under a single Canyon Insights login. Once connected, you can easily toggle between accounts directly within the dashboard, giving you a unified view of your payment operations without juggling multiple logins or tools. During onboarding, simply let us know which accounts you'd like linked and we'll get them set up.
How often is my data refreshed?
Canyon Insights keeps your data current in two ways. Individual transactions are imported automatically via webhooks and appear in your Transactions Feed in real time as they occur. All dashboard metrics β€” approval rates, volume trends, customer analytics, and more β€” are recalculated overnight so you start each day with a fresh, complete picture of your business.
What if my gateway credentials change?
If your gateway credentials change, just reach out to our team with your updated credentials and we'll get your connection updated promptly. If credentials are revoked or expire in the meantime, your data sync will pause and you'll receive an alert β€” historical data already synced is retained throughout.

Data & Analytics

How far back does historical data go?
Canyon Insights retrieves all transaction history that your gateway has available β€” typically 2 to 3 years of data. This means you'll have meaningful historical context from day one, without waiting for data to accumulate. The exact range depends on your gateway and how long your account has been active.
How accurate is the data in Canyon Insights?
Canyon Insights pulls data directly from your gateway's API, so the accuracy of the underlying transaction records reflects what your gateway has on file. We apply normalization logic to ensure metrics like payment method distributions, approval rates, and customer counts are calculated consistently. If you ever notice a discrepancy between Canyon Insights and a raw gateway export, our support team can help trace the source.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Canyon Insights supports data export in CSV format across most report views, making it easy to pull data into Excel, Google Sheets, or your internal BI tools. Export functionality is available on all paid plans.
Does Canyon Insights store my transaction data?
Canyon Insights stores the transaction metadata needed to power your analytics β€” things like transaction amounts, timestamps, response codes, payment method types, and customer identifiers. We do not store raw card numbers, full PANs, or sensitive authentication data. Data is stored in encrypted form and access is strictly limited.

Pricing & Plans

How is Canyon Insights priced?
Canyon Insights uses usage-based pricing tied to your monthly transaction volume. Plans scale across five tiers:
  • Basecamp β€” 0–100 transactions/mo Β· $10/month
  • Trailhead β€” 101–1,000 transactions/mo Β· $29/month
  • Ridge β€” 1,001–10,000 transactions/mo Β· $99/month
  • Summit β€” 10,001–50,000 transactions/mo Β· $249/month
  • Peak β€” 50,001+ transactions/mo Β· $499/month (capped)

All plans include 3 users, all dashboards and reporting, and full coverage across transactions, subscriptions, and customers. Pricing is per connected gateway with no contracts.
What happens if my volume crosses into a higher tier?
Plans adjust monthly based on your actual usage. If your transaction volume moves you into a higher tier, you'll be billed at the correct pricing tier on your next billing cycle β€” there's nothing to manage and no mid-cycle surprises. You always pay the tier that reflects how much you actually used that month.
Is there a trial offer for new subscribers?
Yes. New Canyon Insights subscribers get their first month for just $10, regardless of plan tier β€” so you can connect your gateway, explore up to 2–3 years of your historical data, and see the product in action with your own numbers before fully committing. No long-term contract is required.
Can I add more users to my account?
All plans include 3 users. Additional users can be added in groups of 5 for $15/month. This makes it easy to give your finance, operations, or executive team access without paying for seats you don't need.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Canyon Insights is month-to-month with no long-term contracts. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Access continues through the end of your current billing period.

Security & Compliance

Is Canyon Insights PCI compliant?
Canyon Insights is designed with PCI DSS scope reduction in mind. The platform does not store, process, or transmit cardholder data (PANs, CVVs, or magnetic stripe data). Card data received from gateway APIs is limited to masked or truncated values β€” for example, the last four digits of a card number. PCI compliance responsibility for payment processing remains with your gateway and acquiring bank.
How are my gateway credentials protected?
Your gateway API credentials are encrypted at rest and are never exposed in the application interface after initial entry. Credentials are used only to authenticate outbound data sync requests to your gateway. We do not share, sell, or transmit your credentials to any third party. You can revoke gateway API access at any time directly from your gateway's control panel.
Who can access my Canyon Insights account?
Only authorized users you invite to your Canyon Insights workspace can access your account data. Role-based access controls and least-privilege permissions allow you to manage access across your team. Canyon Insights staff do not access your account data except when required for support purposes with your explicit authorization.
Where is Canyon Insights hosted and how is data secured?
Canyon Insights is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including serverless compute, S3 storage, and CloudFront content delivery, with Cloudflare routing for additional network protection. All data in transit is encrypted via industry-standard TLS. All data at rest is encrypted within the platform. Automatic session timeouts protect against unauthorized access on unattended devices.

Partners & ISOs

Does Canyon Insights have a partner program?
Yes. Canyon Insights offers a partner program for ISOs, payment agents, and resellers who want to offer Canyon Insights to their merchant portfolios. Partners can choose the structure that works best for their business:
  • Referral program β€” Simply refer merchants and earn a commission. No resale complexity, no billing management.
  • Reseller program β€” A true resell solution where you own the merchant relationship, set your own pricing, and white-label the product for your brand.
Both paths give your merchants access to payment analytics as a value-add tool, helping you strengthen retention and differentiate your offering. To learn more, visit our Partner page or contact the team directly.
How does Canyon Insights help ISOs with merchant retention?
Merchants who have access to payment analytics through their ISO or agent are more engaged and less likely to switch processors. Canyon Insights gives ISOs a low-cost, high-value tool to include in their merchant package β€” creating a touchpoint that reinforces the relationship beyond the monthly statement. When merchants can see their own data clearly through a tool you provide, the conversation shifts from cost to performance.
Can Canyon Insights be white-labeled?
White-label options are available upon request for qualifying partners. Reach out to discuss your portfolio size, merchant base, and branding requirements and we'll walk you through what's possible.
